Melissophobia is the Fear of Bees. The purpose of the first hives, was to face the fear. Fear transformed into understanding, which quickly grew into passion. A passion that became the basis for what C&K's beekeeping is today.
Quality rather than quantity
One must, in any craft, decide whether to work with or against the forces of nature.
Our philosophy is to work with nature and that is why we prioritize strengthening our diligent families by allowing them to retain a large proportion of the honey they produce themselves.
The good qualities are preserved
Our honey is processed and stirred without the use of heat, herby the preservation of its natural content of over 180 different compounds is ensured. The good qualities are preserved.
approx.77% monsaccharides (glucose and fructose) approx. 2% disaccharides (sucrose) ca.19% water. The remaining 2% of the honey consists of 30 different minerals, 12 different vitamins and enzymes, 22 free amino acids, 19 organic acids, 8 fats, 120 natural flavors and flavors, proteins and inhibins (natural bacterial inhibitors)
Wealth of breeds
Honeybees do not just make honey. They pollinate about 70% of the crops we eat, which is why, it will have catastrophic consequences if the colonies continue to disappear, as the colonies have been doing since the 1980s.
Since it is our vision to contribute to the conservation of the bees globally, we aspire to create resilient colonies. In this relation, we use a systematic combination of different lines and breeds of bees, such as Buckfast, Carnica, Ligustika and Brun-bee. We strive to breed the bees' temperament back to what the bees once were.
Sustainability and animal welfare
Sustainability and animal welfare are important goal that we strive to meet in our beekeeping.
Sustainability comes from the fact that the hive material, which is part of the production is primarily from recycling. We collaborate with several ecologists, which we help to ensure greater and better yield on there crops. As a bonus more flowers, ensure better living conditions for the other wild insects.
The animal welfare of our bees is that, as mentioned, we do not take away all the honey. They receive at least half of their winter stock from their own honey, which is supplemented with specially designed inverted sugar.
We also distance ourselves from the classic beekeeper approach, which discards bees based on their naturally occurring temper.
We do not use any medicine in beekeeping, but instead use natural organic treatment methods against disease and parasites.
In other words, our focus is to ensure a strong beepopulation that can cope with challenges in a long-term and holistic perspective.
I nov. 2017, the lock was forged to the 120 m2 large warehouse which, was filled with recycled beekeeping equipment.
In November 2018, the company was CVR registered and the upcoming webshop build started.
In July 2019, we have expanded with a 20-foot, temperature controlled warehouse to store the finished products.
In October 2019, our honey became the winner of the silver and bronze at the International Food Contest and the website was launched.
in April 2020 - New pneumatic honey filling machine, production room under construction and new label in production.
In October 2019, we began an experiment in one of our apiaries.
The goal was to investigate whether we could avoid the use of smoke, as well as improve the bees' overall health and microbiological balance by continuously spraying the hives with a ecologically approved extract of organic herbs, molasses and lactic acid culture.
The final results in the year 2020 were extremely uplifting, which is why we are now implementing the product in all apiaries going forward.
